The lymphatic system is a circulatory system made up of lymph vessels, which are much like blood vessels. This system is responsible for draining extra fluid (called lymph) that has passed out of the blood and into tissues and returns it back to the blood. I like to think of it as a sort of recycling service to the cells in your body. Blood brings nourishment to the cells of the body, and once used, the lymphatic system carries the waste away. Our incredible bodies recycle most of that byproduct. The lymphatic system sometimes can get bogged down, (sometimes due to physical injury, sometimes for other reasons) and you might feel heavy or have swollen limbs/extremities. A lymphatic massage restores movement in the lymphatic system and the movement of fluid in your body.
The lymphatic system moves extremely slowly just below the skin, therefore the massage is done very lightly and slowly. I prefer 90 minutes to do a full body lymphatic massage. Therefore, lymphatic massage sessions are automatically set up for 90 minutes and cost $110. (The same price as any 90 minute session in my studio.)
Keeping the lymphatic system moving is healthy for ALL bodies! I am happy to incorporate lymphatic massage into your regular massage session - just ask! :-)
